It was Not all about 3d tv's and Tablets!
What a great day, Las vegas has certainly delivered with todays line up of toys!
The keynotes from the first full day of CES action came thick and fast: Sony, Panasonic, Sharp, Toshiba, LG, Microsoft, Motorola, Samsung… and that’s just the big names from a breathless day of exciting new tech.
The big TV makers dominated the day, with Sony, Panasonic, Samsung and LG all announcing extensive product revamps, predictably dominated by new milestones in the world of 3D.
One of the more interesting sights was Toshiba’s demo of 56in and 65in glasses-free 3D sets. We’ve already seen 16in and 20in models from Toshiba go into production, but it’s the first time a 3D screen of any serious size has promised the promised land of glasses-free viewing. Sadly, though, it’ll be a good while until Toshiba’s clever new tellies see the light of day.
Toshiba’s rivals all outed rafts of new TVs too, but they were just part of the excitement from the big electronics giants. Samsung, for instance, outed the Infuse 4G, a 4.5in smartphone beast debuting the SuperAMOLED Plus screen tech.
Panasonic, meanwhile, tipped its hand into the tablet ring with a range of devices carrying the Viera name – we weren’t treated to much by way of detail aside from the news that there’ll be the choice of 4in, 7in and 10in screen sizes, but it’s another name to add to the rapidly growing tablet brigade nonetheless.
There was plenty more besides, from cameras and laptops to smartphones and camcorders, and it’ll take some time to sift through the details.
Among the new arrivals from slightly lesser lights that caught our eye were the B&W Zeppelin Air iPod dock, adding Apple AirPlay support to the Zeppelin’s already strong hand, and the Philips Dual-Screen Portable Blu-ray/DVD player, a twin-touchscreen pair of displays for in-car Blu-ray use.
