Xbox's bad news for the Wii.

The Nintendo Wii has been amazing peoples thoughts as is is still outselling the superior technology of the xbox 360 and ps3, thanks to the motion sense and the empathy of family fun!

But the future does not seem so bright as nintendo has conformed there will be no 'Wii 2'. Most likely because the Wii does not have the stamina to over power the ps3's and xbox360's new motion sense capabilities.

According to research firm NPD, the Xbox 360 is set to wrestle the Wii’s crown away via some quickfire Kinect combos to claim the title of best-selling console in the US for 2010. No specific numbers were mentioned, but it’s safe to say Kinect’s launch has breathed the kind of life into the Xbox 360’s sales that the Wii now desperately seems to need.

Not only that but Microsoft is steeming ahead because the top 4 games in the us have all been xbox 360 titles.

Broadband, 2012?

The government’s proposed that the whole of Britain could be Broadband-ready by 2012

So, according to the Carter Report, the government wants every household in Britain to have broadband access by 2012. Sounds good to us. Just in time to turn on our computers and stream live action of Britain spectacularly failing to record any gold medals at our own Olympics!

That’s not all Lord Carter had to say, though. In his report outlining his recommendations for “Digital Britain” he also suggested that DAB will become a “primary distribution network” that could sound the death knell for AM and FM. Now, forgive me for sounding a bit patronizing, but isn’t that what everyone in the technology sector’s known for years? Okay, recent figures of DAB radio sales in 2008 did show a negative growth, but I’d attribute that more to the economic climate than anything else.

It’s good to know, though, that even in these tough financial climes, we’re still maintaining our stiff upper lips with an ambitious proposal such as this. If the government pulls it off, we’ll be leading the way in the digital switch over. And that, ultimately can’t be a bad thing for us or the economy.

3D radios?

Could the humble radio get a 3D makeover one day?

While most of us are still trying to get our heads around 3D television (or is it the other way around?), the BBC has gone ahead and taken things a step further by experimenting with what it’s calling ‘3D radio’.

The Telegraph reports that the Beeb is investigating the potential of two systems called ambisonics and periphony, which create the feeling of a three-dimensional soundscape through the placing of speakers in front, behind and above the listener.

At a demonstration, the BBC showed off 3D radio’s potential using an eight-speaker setup, and while it says the practicalities of technical restrictions means we’re unlikely to see any radio services broadcasting in 3D audio any time soon, that could change as technology advances.

BBC director of audio and music Tim Davie suggested that the jump from current surround sound-emulating soundbars to 3D-capable versions wouldn’t be a huge one, while adding roof speakers to in-car audio systems would also be a natural step forward for the technology.

Online Shopping sales hit a new high!

How many off you have spent money online this year?

Because off the cold weather many of you have been optioning to shop online!

According to electronic retail monitor IMRG, the UK public will have spent £57.8bn online by the time the clock hits 12 on December 31, a 16 per cent rise on 2009’s level and as much as triple the amount as just five years ago.

Online sales in November alone were above £6bn, surely largely thanks to the introduction of the Black Friday sales institution that’s so big in the US, and the Mega Monday that followed.

Overall, December 6 was the busiest online shopping day of the year, with UK consumers having spent an incredible £831,000 in a single minute – at 1.15pm if you must know – with the whole day’s takings having totalled £291 million.

New years gadget resolution!

This is now the perfect time too look back at the past 12 months and seen how far gadgets and our lives have come

For the most of us we will be setting new years resolutions, especially the fitness resolutions! But we will be using some fun filled gadgets to help us.


Maybe you are thinking about a new app on your iphone? Or a new watch to keep those record lap times. But my personal favourite gadget for the these hard fitness times are a good pair of headphones!
